Are there any real advantages to getting older?

I'm really trying to think of some to make up for the disadvantages - i.e. aches and pains, gradual loss of whatever beauty one might have had at one time, the "all is vanity and pursuit of the wind" phenomenon etc. I'm not being negative - I'm just really wondering if there are any real advantages to aging - aside from "it's better than the alternative"! For example, one might be achieving some kind of "wisdom" (although obviously this does not happen in all cases!).
